In Her Court Podcast offers a unique experience for the Underserved youth of Orange, Durham, Granville, Vance, and Alamance County. By providing Scholarships, we hope to help to encourage our youth to chase their dreams. Please take a look at some of our opportunities.
110 SPORTS TRAVEL TEAM SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This fund is dedicated to the late Alvino Da'shon Jones, a very dear friend of our founder and a well-known member of the Northside Community in Chapel Hill, NC. "110" refers to the specific block in the community where Coach Smith and Alvino were raised. This fund's purpose is to assist families and children who may have the desire to participate in elite youth travel sports.
GLORIA FAYE SMITH SUMMER CAMP FUND
This fund is dedicated to our founder's late aunt. Gloria Faye Smith, was an amazing woman, mother, aunt, and so much more. She was firm on her beliefs and helped everybody that she could. This fund's purpose is assisting children and families who may have the desire to participate in summer camps related to sports. Camps may be out of state, over-night, and/or multiple day events.
***** Other summer camps (not related to sports specifically) may be considered pending board review of application and availability of funds. (Ex. Hargraves, Community Center, Boys and Girls Club)

IN HER COURT YOUTH SPORTS CLINIC FUND
This funds purpose is to help cover cost of hosting youth sports clinics in Granville, Orange, Vance, Alamance, Warren, and Durham counties. We are dedicated to cultivating a healthy environment for learning the fundamentals of sports despite of financial capabilities. This fund allows us to buy training materials, Lunches, rent facilities, contract trainers/speakers and so much more."
ESSIE PEARL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This fund is dedicated to the late grandmother of our founder, Jamella Smith. Essie, affectionately known as "Pearl" was a hardworking mother of 15 children. She planted her roots in Granville County, where she is buried today. The ESSIE PEARL SMITH FUND houses three separate college scholarships: HERMAN COZART SCHOLARSHIP ($1,000), THE KEVIN HOOKER SR. SCHOLARSHIP ($500), AND THE JAMES T. WALL SCHOLARSHIP($250). These scholarships are purposed for high-school seniors who have been accepted into a College or University. Our hope is that the scholarship assists the student in any way possible because college comes with its' financial hardships.
FACIOUS LORRAINE TRADE SCHOOL FUND
Facious, affectionately known as "Faye", was the late aunt of our founder. She was an absolutely beautiful soul with an amazing heart. She was very skilled and did most of her magic as a dedicated cook for K&W Cafeterias in Chapel Hill, NC. Faye was well known, and extremely loved by those that encountered her. This fund's purpose is to assist high-school seniors who have decided that although the traditional educational route is not their option, they still have an alternative option in trade-school.
DWIGHT E. SMITH COMMUNITY PROJECT FUND
This fund is dedicated to the late paternal grandfather of our founder. Although she never met or knew him due to his passing in 1989, he was the patriarch of her father's family and to that honor she is paying respect. The community project fund is purposed for completing necessary and proper community projects. This could include but is not limited to starting gardens, neighborhood trash pick ups, and local school renovative projects.
